New York Fashion Week 2014 myWebRoom Roundup!

New York City has been bustling more than usual this past week, the streets filled with outfits to die for. Some may ask why, but many know: the cause is New York Fashion Week. From rave-inspired music and lights to hologram technology, this has been a week of fashion like never before. Many will give their opinions on who was best of show, and we obviously want to weigh in. After hours of flipping through outfit after beautiful outfit, we have narrowed down our favorites from each of the eight days. Prepare to be awestruck.

Day One: BCBGMaxAzria
BCBG at Fashion week 2014
This collection screamed care-free California Girl. Flowing frocks, pastel coloring, and light fabrics contributed to these looks that begged to be worn while strutting down Sunset Boulevard or lounging on a sandy beach. Designer Lubov Azria aimed to capture the essence of West Coast style: a little boho, subtle coloring, always effortlessly put together. We think she nailed it. Bravo.
Day Two: Jason Wu
London Fashion Week 2014 featuring Jason Wu
We now travel from West Coast to East Coast to explore the business-chic style of busy Manhattan dwellers. This is not a collection for the care-free woman; with leather accents, deep colors, and accentuating cuts, each look is made to make a girl look CEO ready. These pieces represent that classic sportswear style that is so NYC.
Day 3: Altuzarra
New York Fashion week 2014 featuring Altuzarra
If you had to wear only one designer for the rest of your life, you would never bore with Altuzarra. This was one of the most diverse collections we saw this year; from plaid to floral and desk to date, these designs aimed to cover the entire life of the everyday woman.
Day 4: Victoria Beckham
New York Fashion Week 2014 featuring Victoria Beckham
Posh and spice are two words one could use to describe the fierce collection designed by Victoria Beckham. A neat collection with a uniform touch, this is a different side of the designer that we have not seen before. Her usual slim-fitting, cocktail dresses were put on hold to create a look that is polished yet, well, posh. She has always been popular to us around myWebRoom. We’ve even got own own collection based on her signature style!
Day 5: Zac Posen
New York Fashion Week 2014 Featuring Zac Posen
Classy meets simple with the romantic looks of Zac Posen. With a focus on shape and structure, his designs are eye-catching without effort and dramatic in the most basic way. These are difficult combinations to properly capture, but we think Posen accomplished it with ease.
Day 6: Marc by Marc Jacobs
New York Fashion Week 2014 featuring Marc Jacobs.
Take off with the Jetsons as you explore this futuristic collection filled with fun prints, crazy accessories, and geometric cuts and shapes. To add to this one-of-a-kind collection, the show itself was a spectacle to behold. Rave music blasted and neon lights flashed, virtually taking us of the Electric Daisy Festival as we explored the fashion of the future.
Day 7: Michael Kors
NY Fashion Week 2014 featuring Michael Kors
We could never give only one designer the title of Best of Show, but if someone forced our hand, the award would go to Michael Kors. He didn’t necessarily do anything new or out of the ordinary, but that was it’s charm. This collection was designed to target the everyday girl, from office to beach, college girl to businesswoman. The designs are easy and effortless yet simply breathtaking. We have now confirmed why Michael Kors is the name on every girl’s tongue when she goes shopping: he captures the style of every woman within each collection.
Day 8: J. Mendel
New York Fashion Week 2014 featuring J Mendel.
Inspired by artist Enoc Perez, we see art and fashion come together in a way like never before. Each piece echoes the abstract strokes of a painting; geometric shapes capture the lines and angles that make this collection an original. We couldn’t take our eyes off of the runway as we watched the art come to life in flowing fabrics, form-fitting dresses, and unique textures. Breathtaking art has never been so fun.
As we come to an end and reflect on the past few days of Fashion Week, there is only one thing to say that wraps it all up nicely: we were simply inspired by the hard work and dedication that each show demonstrated. It is now time to max out our credit cards as we make too many purchases buying our favorite looks from each collection. Until next time, New York.
