School is out, the sun is bright, and Festival Season is upon us! The world’s hottest musicians are making their way through the United States delivering epic performances that you’ll never forget!
Here’s a selection of the best Summer festivals in the country for you to explore. Scroll down to see the myWebRoom choices for artists to check out for each festival. Click on each artist’s name to find free music to help prep you for music festival season.
1 – Electric Daisy Carnival
To say that Electric Daisy Carnival, or EDC, is a huge festival would be an understatement. This three day event that takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway has seven stages, including kinectFIELD, “the largest scenic stage in North America,” amusement rides, large scale art installations, performance artists, a place to get married or to renew your vows, and of course an extensive line-up of the most popular EDM artists in the world.
If you want to start your summer off with the likes of Calvin Harris, DJ Snake, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Tiesto, then head on down to Las Vegas, Nevada June 19th-21st for what is sure to be the most epic party you’ve ever been to.
2 – Firefly Music Festival
Festivals can be somewhat overwhelming at times with all of the people walking around and all the sites to see, but that’s what sets the Firefly Music Festival apart from the rest. Firefly offers four days of unforgettable musical performances, enhanced dining options and interactive entertainment set among lush wooded landscapes in the heart of the east coast.
You’ll be able to see the biggest artists in the world such as Snoop Dogg, Paul McCartney, and Modest Mouse, as well as up and comers, Broods (I can’t stop listening to their album Evergreen), Hozier, and Echosmith.
If there is one festival you should try to make it to in your life it’s Lollapalooza. Originally started as a touring concert by Jane’s Addiction frontman, Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza has evolved into an enormous event that is headlined by the biggest names in music.
Grammy Award winners such as Sam Smith, Metallica, and Paul McCartney, are just a few of the headliners that will grace the stages July 31st-August 2nd In Grant Park, Chicago. One of the most amazing parts of Lollapalooza are the 50+ after parties featuring over 100 musical acts, so if you happen to miss Twenty-One Pilots because you just had to see Kid Cudi, then you can catch them in a much more intimate setting.
If your summer is packed and you won’t be able to make it to one of the previously listed festivals, don’t fret, there are still plenty of shows for you!
4 – Life Is Beautiful
To wrap up festival season, Life is Beautiful, in Las Vegas Nevada delivers a star filled lineup from September 25th-27th headlined by Stevie Wonder, Imagine Dragons, and Hip-Hop sensation, Kendrick Lamar, but that’s not all. The supporting lineup is probably one of the strongest of any festival with acts such as Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, Hozier, Duran Duran, and plenty more bands you don’t want to miss.
For an expert perspective on Life is Beautiful we turn to Noiseporn Editor-in-Chief Chelsea Perry! Noiseporn is an online leader in bringing the best of dance music news, fashion, and events to its avid followers. You could say Chelsea knows a thing or two about music. Her picks for Life is Beautiful include Major Lazer, Metric, Kendrick Lamar and Run the Jewels. Now you’re ready to take on Vegas!
5 – Outside Lands
myWebRoom is located in San Francisco, so it’s only natural that everyone around here is getting prepared for Outside Lands even if it is a few months down the road. This years lineup includes Sir Elton John, The Black Keys, the incredibly talented violinist Lindsey Stirling, and DJ Mustard (Mustard on the beat, anyone?) in a show that rocks the beautiful Golden Gate Park every year. This will also be Elton John’s only appearance in California this year so if you make your way out The Golden State and you see any of the myWebRoom teammates make sure you say hi!
Looking to find some new music at the fest? For this iconic SF show we asked Jenna Homen, the San Francisco Editor of UpOut for a tip! Jenna covers awesome music and events happening around the city and she has a recommendation on some tunes you can’t miss!
“For a taste of some lazy “slacker rock” with a splash of the 80s, Mac Demarco is a must-see — plus he’s kind of a weirdo, in the best way possible. Guaranteed great show.”
The Vans Warped Tour may not be a traditional festival, but it is definitely worth including. This massive Rock/Pop/Metal/ Hip-Hop tour starts in Anchorage, Alaska on June 17th and runs through 43 cities until it ends August 8th in Auburn, Washington.
There are over 70 bands such as Senses Fail, Black Veil Brides, and one of my personal favorite artists, MC Lars, performing on 9 different stages. If you are looking for a full day to rock, The Vans Warped Tour is the concert for you.
Don’t forget to set these links for free music and festival info as bookmarks in your rooms. They’re a great way to keep all of your favorite tunes visually collected in your own customized space. Rock on, roommates!
